In collaboration with the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit [GIZ] (German Society for International Cooperation), our class designed booklets in Azerbaijani. Type designers often overlook the language and it’s difficult to find fonts that have the right characters. Therefore, I made my own for headlines. The majority of Azerbaijan is muslim. In the tradition of islamic ornaments, I designed the type after a modular principle, using a triangular grid.
